Medical Oncologist

Doctor Kiran Phadke graduated in 1972 from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. He held appointments as intern, resident and Registrar at St. George, Sutherland and Orange Base Hospitals. Following training in internal medicine Kiran obtained Fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and  Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (FRCPA)  in 1979.

During 1980 he was Cancer Campaign Research Fellow at the University of Manchester in England and trained in Medical Oncology.

Kiran returned to Sydney Hospital as a consultant Physician in Medical Oncology in 1981 and was at the Hallstrom Institute of Radiotherapy. In 1984 Kiran was appointed to St George Hospital as a specialist in Medical Oncology and was later appointed in 1990 as visiting physician in Oncology to Sutherland Hospital.

From 1995- 2015 Kiran was Director of Medical Oncology at St. George/ Sutherland Hospitals where he remains as a Senior Staff Specialist. Kiran was consultant to Calvary Hospital from 1995-2005 and on the advisory Board of Calvary Hospital and the Pathology Department.

During his time at both hospitals Kiran served on the Board of Bezzina House (Cancer Residential Lodge for Rural and Regional patients), the Prostate Cancer Institute and was instrumental in developing cancer services in Southern Sydney. Kiran has always participated in training  medical students, residents and registrars as well as advanced trainees over the last 35 years.

Kiran belongs to the National Trust and has a keen interest in gardening and enjoys meeting members of the local community.
